C-Section Mental Health

Most people don't go into their first birth experience planning to have a c-section. It can be really traumatic to have your plan end in a major abdominal surgery. If you are struggling post cesarean birth, please know that there is nothing wrong with you! Therapy can provide the space to process your experience, and develop coping strategies for the day to day.

If you are experiencing another pregnancy after c-section, you may find yourself faced with the choice of planning for a vaginal birth after cesarean (VBAC) or scheduling a repeat cesarean. This is a really personal choice, and there is no "right" way. You may find therapy beneficial in exploring your priorities and values while deciding.

You may also have already chosen to have a repeat c-section for an upcoming birth. Our work together may consist of preparing for the upcoming birth and developing strategies for the big day!
